Passion’s Shells

Passion’s Shells

Madness is dawn’s child

Shafts of light crack our darkness

That misted the world and my sense

Removing the veils and passion

She lies by my side content and asleep

Suddenly

The shells fall off Saul’s eyes

Sense returns in a rush

And the same old wonder

What have I done

She stirs, reaching for me

I shrink at the touch and wonder

How long will she stay?

The fires are dead

But what lights them yet again

For I know they will yet burn

I know for sure.

But not now.

She can live for another day

Another night

The shells fell off
